Associate Attorney | Employment Law & Litigation
Potomac Legal Group is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Employment Law and Litigation practice.
Annual Salary Range: $100,000-$185,000
What You’ll Do
You will work closely with senior attorneys on a sophisticated employment caseload, with growing responsibility as you develop. Day-to-day work includes:
- Drafting demand letters, pleadings, motions, and discovery.
- Conducting legal research and preparing memoranda on employment law issues.
- Assisting in the preparation and review of severance and separation agreements.
- Supporting EEOC administrative matters.
- Assisting with document production, discovery responses, and deposition preparation.
- Providing trial support, including preparation of exhibits, witness materials, and trial binders.
- Communicating with clients.
What We’re Looking For
- Active Maryland Bar license, or eligibility for admission. Bar membership in Virginia or Washington, DC, is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of law practice experience as a licensed attorney.
- Significant exposure to employment matters and litigation through previous associate positions, judicial clerkships, summer associate positions, or law school clinics — including hands-on experience drafting demand letters, motions, and pleadings, and supporting attorneys through production, discovery, deposition prep, and trial.
- Strong legal research and writing skills, with sharp attention to detail.
- Clear, effective written and oral communication.
- A genuine interest in employment law as a long-term practice area.
- Eagerness to learn from and be mentored by experienced attorneys.
Compensation
- Base salary of $100,000 – $185,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Reviews and performance-based compensation adjustments.

Work Location
This is a fully in-office position at our North Bethesda, Maryland, office.

Law Clerk
Position Requirements
- J.D. from an ABA-approved law school.
- Candidates must have previously sat for a bar exam.
- Experience in positions such as law clerk, semester law clerk, or legal assistant at a law firm.
- Prior experience assisting attorneys in business law or litigation.
- Experience in filing pleadings in state and federal court.
- Experience organizing discovery and files, drafting/editing correspondence, and other duties related to litigation support.
- Working knowledge of research tools, including Westlaw, LexisNexis, and CoCounsel.
- Interest or experience in business law, employment law, and litigation.
- Commitment to a career in law and complex matters.
- Desire to provide a high level of client service.
Salary Pay Range: $60,000 to $85,000 (annually), EOE
This position reports full-time in office during regular work hours. Remote work and hybrid schedules are not available. At this time, we are only interviewing candidates who have recently sat for a bar exam or are licensed in any jurisdiction.
